Is it OK to say/write "take something for example" instead of "give something as an example"?
For instance, is the following sentence acceptable?
"When he talked about the American dream, he took Bill Gates' success for example."
Thank you in advance,

When he talked about the American dream, he took Bill Gates' success as an example.
That's fine. You could also say:
... he gave/cited Bill Gates' success as an example. _________________ I'm never going to learn if you don't correct my mistakes! |
