hello teachers

when i say we are short staffed at our company and when i say
the knife is thin edged

In these two example short staffed and thin edged is considered to

If so is there a rule for that ?

i have another question when i say the runer is in the second last
position what does second last mean ?

thanks in advance for your assistance

Hany

Yes, they act as adjectives because they are modifying nouns, 'company' and 'knife,' respectively.

Everyone else is ahead of the runner in last position. Everyone else except the runner in last position is ahead of the runner in second to last position.

Hope that helps!
