Is there any difference between these two sentences?

a) It will be better for you to apply for the scholarship.
b) It would be better for you to apply for the scholarship.

as far as I know,

using will states a next point. "it will be better" means after that time, it will be better after this time to apply...

but, would;
if you use "would" you want to talk about an past action. you are trying to say that;

you didn't apply, but it would be better if you applied...

I hope my comments are correct.
