Hi,
Do we need "the" before airport names and the noun "airport" modified by the city name?
(the) JFK airport
(the Hanoi airport
Many thanks,

We need "the" before the noun "airport".
I'm going to the airport this afternoon.
If "Hanoi Airport" is the actual name of the airport, don't use "the".
The plane will land at Hanoi Airport.
(capitalize the letter "A" because "Airport" is part of the official name of the airport)
If you are just referring to the main airport in Hanoi, without using its official name, use "the".
The plane will land at the Hanoi airport.
(don't capitalize "a" because here "airport" is just a noun, not a name) |
