Hello, teachers.

Below is a part of the lyrics of Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Back" .
What does it mean, and what is 'head?

"Go 'head be gone with it!"

Lyrics of pop songs are hard to understand.

Justin is really saying "Go ahead, (you) be gone with it.", I think.
or "Go ahead, (you) get rid of it." I think. Smile

Thank you, Mr. Eric.

I can see 'head means ahead.
Are these often the case such omissions occur in casual lines?

Thanks.
With regards.

Yes, people get lazy and say things in shorthand.

"I'm going to go to the store" becomes "I'm gonna go to the store."

That gets shortened to "I'm gon' go to the sto" or "I'ma go to the sto."

Keep your ears open for the next phase: "Ima go da sto."

Hello, CP.

Thank you for your reply.
They were very very interesting for me.

Does "Ima go da sto." mean "I'm going to the store", doen't it?
I also can understand a part of the reason why listening English is so difficult.

Thank you so much.
Sincerely

"I'm-a" is (if I remember) an American phrase that originated around Virginia hundreds of years ago, and it's basically a contraction of 'I'm going to'. 'Ima go da sto' means 'I'm going to go (to) the store', so you're almost right Very Happy . I don't think you can use 'I'm-a' to just mean 'I am going' (present continuous), I think it has to be followed by a verb to state a future intention.

Prospector grammar! Now I'm-a git

"Fo sho" means "for sure" and I would guess "I'm-a git" means "I'm going to get going" but I'm not sure about that one!
