War: harmful or necessary!!!

I want talk about this topic, because once time, an United States person told me that the war is necessary for reducing the quantity of persons in the world.

But I think that the war is unnecessary, because the governments around the world uses for yours wrong policies or looking for its own benefit.
For example, I don�t think that war in Iraq had been for help the Iraq persons, because this persons was the more affected for the war, if not, I think is more for politician aspects, like a black gold, and natural resources of the another country.

But I want to know:

What do you Think about the war is harmful or necessary???
