After watching a television program a few days ago, is it okay to use the simple? 'I felt I saw a process of evolution in which human beings developed.'
Or, do I need to use the perfect? 'I felt I had seen a process of evolution in which human beings had developed.'
'Felt' happened in the past. 'Had seen' happened in the past of 'felt'. 'Had developed' happened in history. Is this correct?
Do I need to do so much thinking about what happened when or did the simple form communicate what happened enough to understand what happened?

| Yes, the simple past is all you need in your sentence. |
