Hello Blackwolf -

Many/most EFL students learn the alphabet as a first step.

The alphabet is for reading and writing (spelling), not for speaking.

Native speakers hear and learn the 'sounds' of English for years before learning the alphabet.

Try practicing basic 'phonics' to improve your listening skills.

Another problem is the great variety of accects (national/regional).

If you are learning English for international communication, 'neutral' accents are most widely understood.

BBC and VOA offer 'special English' programming for non-native listeners.
