I took a bus to get to the place.
I took a bus to the place.
Are both sentences correct? What is the meaning of 'to get' in the first sentence? Do I need to use 'to get' when talking about went somewhere?
Shorter sentences are more efficient?

You don't need "to get"; the second sentence is much better.
Yes, shorter sentences are more efficient, as long as they correctly and clearly express your intended meaning.

I took a bus to the place.
Here we have the preposition "to" indicating the direction that the bus travelled.
I took a bus "to" get to the place.
In this sentence "to" followed by a verb expresses the reason for taking the bus. _________________ I'm never going to learn if you don't correct my mistakes! |
