Dear teachers:
(a) The application also claims the Taiwanese priority dated of 9 March 2006 and was accompanied by the priority document.
(b) The application also claims the Taiwanese priority dated 9 March 2006 and was accompanied by the priority document.
Which one is correct? Thanks. |

River, this only makes sense if there is a thing called a "priority" and it can be claimed by an applicant. In that case, the second version is correct. The first version would work by deleting "dated:" ... the Taiwanese priority of 9 March 2006... |

Thanks bud. In the patent field, there is actually a thing called a "priority" and it can be claimed by an applicant. |

There is an error in the sentence. To correct it, you either have to omit "and" or add "was" before "dated". |

That's what I first thought, 2006, but it's correct. It just seems strange because we are not familiar with the lingo of the patent field.
The key to the meaning is understanding exactly what is meant by "claims" and "priority." Or you could split it into two: "The application also claims the Taiwanese priority dated 9 March 2006. It was accompanied by the priority document. " |
