Hello, teachers.
"the words from someone" can mean "the words of someone" ?
Thank you in advance!

I am not sure, but I think, 'words of someone' implies the person is now no more in the world or in your life.
I remember the words of my Uncle (he is no more), who used to say that
life is very short and we must make the best out of it while we can.
Whenever I feel that I am trying to hurry, I remember the words of my teacher (I am not in contact with her anymore) who had said that if we hurry, we will lose many things in life.
"Hey Ram," these were the last words of Mahatma Gandhi.
Hopefully, other teachers will throw more light on this. |

Hello, Anuradha-san.
Thank you for your answer!
The words of your grandfather and of your teacher are very impressive.
By the way,if I want to say "I'm impressed by the words." and want to use a pronoun to refer to "the words", should I say "I'm impressed by them."?
Or "I'm impressed by it.", thinking it is a set of words.
Regards,

Hello Junkomama,
This post was right on top and I was searching for it all over the forum,
and wondering why Lorikeet would delete it.
Yes, you can say 'them' when you are referring to (a set of) words. |
