1.
I don't have the "strength" to climb the stairs.
Is that correct?
2
Young India "flexes" its Industrial "brawn"
Stretch its strength?
Thanks to you guys and Merry Christmas.

1. Yes.
2. Well, sort of. Think of a very muscular guy. He might flex his muscles in a way that shows even more clearly how powerful he is. He'd do this to discourage other guys from starting a fight with him, or to show them how unbeatable he is.
Your sentence is a metaphor for the above. India is showing other countries what an industrial giant it is.
Merry Christmas to you, MsD. You can writre it as Xmas (no apostrophe), but some fervent Christians get angry about that. They say, "it takes Christ out of Christmas." |

Writing it as Xmas leaves the Christ in Christmas, contrary to the fervent Christians. The X is supposed to be the Greek letter chi, the first letter (or two -- the ch) of Christ. It is just an abbreviation for Christ.
You never hear Christians say that the fish symbol, with the Greek letters spelling out fish in Greek, leaves out Christ. Nor does it.
There, the second letter is chi, looking like an X, standing for Christ. The word for fish in Greek, ichthus, is spelled with the first letters of the phrase, Jesus Christ Son [of] God, Savior. It was invented as a way for early Christians to advertise their faith to others in the group without being persecuted.
So a late Merry Xmas to you all, Xians and non-Xians alike. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |

I'm among those who believe that silly debates such as this are spawned by politicians who want the real issues pushed off the screens of the news shows and the pages of the newspapers. |
