Could you check to see if the dialogue below is natural, please?

(At the pub)
A Are you alone today?

B Yes. A friend of mine had to leave because of some urgent business. So I had some time to spare before the train.

A I see.

It is not natural, but if you omit B's last sentence it will be natural.
