1. He told me that his mother was ill.
2. The trouble is that I sing out of tune.
3. That opinions will differ is inevitable.
4. It is inevitable that opinions will differ.
In #1 & #2, the that can be omitted. In #3, the omission is not possible.
Can we omit the that in #4? _________________ Thank you very much for your reply.

4 sounds much better with "that"; I would keep "that".
Especially while one is learning about "that", it is better to use it when you are not sure if it is really needed or not.
