Dear all,

Happy New Year!

Generally, I think 'too' has a negative connotation, compared with 'very,' but sometimes I am confused about which to use. Could you please explain the difference of 'very' and 'too,' in terms of their usage and meaning.

Thank you.

I will try to explain it to you.
It's not too difficult to explain.

This question is too difficult.
I can't explain it.

It's very cold outside.
You have to dress warm.
It's not too cold to go out.

It's too cold outside.
You have to stay in the house.

That car is very expensive. It's gonna take me 5 years to pay for it. It's not too expensive.

That car is too expensive. I can't afford to buy it.
