Hello,

Can the adjective "sophisticated", when used to describe people, have a negative connotation in any context at all? I have always thought that when you say that someone is sophisticated, it is rather a compliment.

If the word "sophisticated" can be used to describe someone in a negative sense, can you give me an example?

Is there a term to described older and experienced woman in a negative way?

'Sophisticated' is not of itself negative in connotation-- though we can work wonders with a proper tone of voice. How about 'jaded'?
