Okay, I know that this has nothing to do with ESL but how can I start talking to a girl if I like her but she doesn't really know that I exist.

Ask her somethig you already know but don't get nervous 'cause she is going to know you are liying. I don't know like where is the cafeteria or the library (tell her to go with you  ).

Just smile, be respectful, modest and among all don't try to look as if you were interested on her, just be a gentleman.

Find out what she's interested in and come over with few prepared but not complicated questions. You can spy on her through her friends too 
I think the most important things when talking to a person who knows nothing about us is to be natural and relaxed.
