Hi all ...I'm new here and I am stuck on a question and just cannot seem to figure out how to explain the answer

There aren't ............... biscuits on this plate.

a) too much
b) a lot
c) enough
d) some

I know the answer is c) enough.....but why is it c)?? and i need to explain what this question is testing exactly.

If someone can help me with this I would be very grateful

Thnx

"Biscuits" is a count noun; therefore, "too much" would be wrong. You could, however, use "too many."

"A lot" needs an "of" before a noun, so "a lot of biscuits" would be okay.

"Some" is not usually used after a negative; "any" is used, so "any biscuits" would also be okay.
