[Friend Season 1-6]

Monica: Did anybody else feel they just wanted to peel the skin off their body, to have something else to do?

1.What did Monica mean by saying that?
----------------------
Chandler: Oh God, I can't believe I'm even considering this... I'm very very aware of my tongue...

2. What does "very aware of my tongue" mean here?
Thanks a lot to Teachers!

1. Monica and the others had just sat through Joey's horrible play. Monica is saying that she would have liked to torture herself to overcome the boredom of watching such a terrible play.

2. Chandler is about to approach a beautiful woman to try to start a conversation. He feels inferior to her, is afraid of being humiliated, and is only approaching her at the others' urging. So he feels clumsy and is afraid of screwing up what he is going to say to her. Literally, his tongue feels dry and swollen. He fears that his words will come out as gibberish. Therefore, his attention is focused on his dry, swollen tongue that will produce that gibberish.
