I have the following Business English doubts:

1. Tom East is the SENIOR executive in charge of Marketing.
Can we put CHIEF instead of SENIOR? If not, why?

2. What does DEMUTUALIZATION mean?

3. What does MARKET-LED mean?

4. What's the difference between a CUSTOMER and a CONSUMER?

5. What are HIGH STREET SHOPS?

6. Competitors are angry that the company is using LOSS LEADERS to attract customers.
What are LOSS LEADERS?

Dear Mr./Ms. K, I'll try to answer your questions, but not all. 1, Generally, 'Senior' goes before 'Vice President', which is followed by "for Marketing,"(or Finance, etc). 'Chief' normally is put before some type of 'Officer', such as Executive, Operating, Financial. Example: Chief Executive Officer. 2, I don't really know. 3, 'Market-led' would be an adjective for activity that is driven by 'market forces', which is really 'what customers want and are buying'. 4, 'Customer' is used by businessmen, 'consumer' by economists. The former is personalized, the latter is theoretical and abstract and generallized. 5, 'High Street Shop' is a British term, which I think, refers to the high quality/high priced stores on the main street of a town or city. 6, 'Loss leaders' are products that are offered by stores at below-cost prices and are intended to draw in customers, so that they may purchase other high-priced products and make nice overall profits. OK?
