It's not big news that we (internetional students) have problems with understanding native-speakers.
Once I left my wallet in the taxi. So I called them, but we hardly could understand each other. I asked her 5 times !!! to speak slowly, but it seems doesn't work In the end I forgot about my wallet, and began to explain her that : she can't work like this and called her d**b ***.
Next experience was in DvD rental company. Just before me, one kiwi boy talked with shop-assistance on the english which I couldn't understand, but when I started to speak he understand nothing! zilch!
The funny thing that I can properly understand movies, teachers and my classmates. What's going down with all native-speakers ? Everyday I meet two kinds of english : indoor my school and street english. My ex-homestay are Indian. At my first day I thought that I am talking with martians.
It's just my point of view, I am not crying about it and don't care too much, just feel non-comfortable talking with native-speakers.
I begin to notice that most of them don't pay attention that english is our second language, they think that it's our problem, but most of them even never tryed to learn second language. Because they think that english is the most important language in the all world. They would understand how it's hard to learn everything from very begining.
good luck. 4K^Vitt |
