Hi everyone! I know, that 'between' is used when we talk about two things or people, and 'among' is used for three and more things or people.
Can someone please explain if the following sentence is correct?
'Which one do you like between banana, guava and apple?
Thanks in advance.

It really should be "among," because, as you say, "between" means two. You can see "two" or "twain" in the word itself. However, no one in conversation would be shocked if you used "between" in that sentence. People do it all the time. On a test, or in formal writing, I wouldn't stray from the "between for two, among for more" rule. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
