Dear teachers,
What does "profits on the table" mean in the below sentence?
"You may ultimately leave some profits on the table, but better to leave some profit on the table than none in your pocket."

To leave profits on the table means to charge less than you could have or to miss an opportunity to charge more.
You have an opportunity to sell your product or service for a higher price and you don't. Or the customer is willing to pay more and you don't realise it and/or you don't take advantage of it. _________________ I'm never going to learn if you don't correct my mistakes! |

I can clearly understand them.
Well, may I ask one more question about same words in different sentence?
"This is the best way for now while there are substantial profits on the table that portfolio can withstand any sharp decline in stock prices."
Does "profits on the table" in the above sentence have same meaning in the previous sentences?
Please help me.

I think that "profits on the table" refer to an advantage or an opportunity for profit or benefit.
Look at how the term is used in this article:
