If I say ...Certain facts show in the mug. ...People can understand me now? Of course there is the context like.... at the beginning a man said...who do you think I look like ? The other said: a killer. Then there comes this reply.

Yes, I think it's clear. "Mug" is still used as slang for "face."

There are occasions you wouldn't want to use "mug" in place of "face," such as when you're writing for a <serious> newspaper or a term paper:

The President's mug lit up when he entered the room full of foreign dignitaries.


On the other hand, when someone is talking to a friend or cellmate:

Hey, that's a nice mug shot! (picture)
