Are both in the parentheses of the following sentence correct?
--------- the following ----------
Do you think our team will win the game tonight?
Well, I'm afraid the chance is very (rare/slim). |

Usually it is "slim chance" and "rare event" or "rare opportunity," etc.
We also say "fat chance," but almost always in an ironic way, so it really means "slim chance."
"I'd sure like to get a date with her!"
"With your wallet and those clothes? Fat chance!"
Sometimes you hear, "The chances of that happening are slim and none." _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
