Dear Chan-Seung Lee, I say that neither of your sentences are correct. It should be 'I had never heard of...'. That's the past perfect tense. 'Today' seems to be in the present (now), but, in the construction of your sentence, 'today' is actually in the past. He heard about it earlier today. So his not-hearing-of-the-band started far in the past but ended today when he heard about it. The past condition was completed. That is when you use the past perfect tense. OK?, Eric |
