1.I love you *helplessly* or *hopelessly*.
Which one is better?
2.What's *dancing off your feet.*?
3.What is the antonym of *shy*?
4. What are other ways of saying *Most people are shy in comparison to Cherry."?
Thanks, guys. |

1. "Hopelessly," but it'd be much more natural to say, "I'm hopelessly in love with you."
2. I don't know... Are you sure it isn't "dancing your feet off?" That's dancing for such a long time (or dancing so vigorously) that you wore (eroded) your feet off your legs (obviously a bit of an exaggeration).
3. I think a lot of words could serve as an antonym. Probably "outging" is the most obvious. Other possibilities: gregarious, bold, extroverted, daring. I'm sure there are others.
4.
Cherry is extremely outgoing.
Few people are as outgoing as Cherry.
Compared to Cherry, most people are shy.
Compared to Cherry, most people are wallflowers.
Any given person is shy compared to Cherry. ("Any given [noun]" is a phrase meaning "the average [noun].") |

What would "I'm helplessly in love with you." mean?
At first look, I would assume *any give* to mean *any*. Could you give more examples? Thanks |

It would work OK and mean pretty much the same thing. It is customary to use "hopelessly," though.

It's slightly different than "any."
Any person is shy in comparison to Cherry. = No one is as outgoing as Cherry.
Any given person is shy in comparison to Cherry. = The average person is shy in comparison to Cherry, but there are a few who are even more outgoing than Cherry... "Any given [noun]" is the same as choosing one of the [noun]'s at random. Since the average person is more shy than Cherry, a person chosen at random is likely to be more shy.
Ex.
In American football, any team can win on any given Sunday. (This conveys that the rules in forming teams are meant to keep all of the teams as equal as possible. Teams play once a week, usually on Sunday... The sentence means that on any random Sunday, each of the teams has a realistic possibility to win its game.)
In November, it will be windy on any given day. = It is windy on the majority of days in November.
Any given home in Greenwich costs over $1 million. = The average home in Greenwich costs more than $1 million. |
