Dear Teachers:
Phrasal Verbs are divided in two parts, separable and inseparable. How do I recognize them? Why "get up" and "sit down" belong to separable phrasal verbs?
Best regards~~ |

Your question has given me an opportunity to comment on the subject of why questions in a second language class.
As an ESL teacher I have observed that in most cases "why" questions are counterproductive and often demonstrate that the student is using his first language to try to understand the second language.
There are many things in a second language that make no sense in one's first language and the time we spend attempting to understand a second language based on the structures, grammar and logic of our first language is time wasted.
As far as I know there are no tricks to learning phrasal verbs. _________________ I'm never going to learn if you don't correct my mistakes! |
