Hi, everyone.

Which pronoun do you think would be better in the sentence below?

Tracy tried to divert suspicion away from her/ herself.

I understand herself would be correct grammatically, but it seems like her is okay too.


I'd appreciate your reply.

"her" is not good, unless you want to mean that Tracy tried to divert attention away from another female.

The question can be looked at in another way.

If the subject of a sentence does somthing to the subject itself, one should use a reflexive pronoun.
