Then he looked sleepily at Tony's magazine stand and said, "Well, I need a job, don't I?" There was a sign posted on the wall. It said "HELP WANTE."................

At this setence, is "look" used with "sleepily"?

I was taught that the verb "look" must be used with an "adjective".

I wonder if "he looked sleepy'...." is correct.

Do you agree with me?

When "look(s)(ed)" is an action verb, you need the adverb "sleepily". Then he looked sleepily at Tony's magazine stand.

When "look(s)(ed)" is a linking verb, you need the adjective "sleepy". They all looked sleepy.

Say "In this sentence is "look" used.........?"
