Joey: How do you get a monkey into a zoo?
Chandler: I know that one! ...No, that's Popes into a Volkswagen.
1.What's the connection between getting a monkey into a zoo and Popes into a Volkswagen?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Monica: Hey, hold on there, tiger. How's it going? How you holding up?
2.To hold up here means to endure or to maintain the present situation ?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Joey: Well, it's like, last night, I couldn't do the thing that usually makes me great. So I had to do all this other stuff. And the response I got... man, oh man, it was like a ticker tape parade!
3.It was like a ticker tape parade means that he was highly praised by the girl or what?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ross: I don't get it. What do you see in this guy, anyway?
4."What do you see in this guy " means " what do you think of this guy" ?
Thanks a lot to Teachers! |

1. Nothing. He means that Joey's question sounds like an old riddle. So he pretends he's going to answer it, but then realizes that he was thinking of a different riddle.
2. Yes.
3. She treated him as a hero, which would include highly praising him.
4. Why do you like him (implying that I see nothing to like about him)? |
