Dear Teachers,
1. I said Im not interested in dating girls anymore, have you heard clearly?
- Is this natural?
2. Lets cut the crap!
- What does this mean?
Thanks a lot to Teachers,

1. Not so much. Change it to, "I said Im not interested in dating girls anymore, you hear / you understand / you got me / you get it / OKAY?" These would be used in conversation, but not in formal writing.
2. "Lets cut the crap!" means, "Let's stop this nonsense / quit lying to ourselves!"
You can also say, "Cut the crap!" to mean, "Quit BS'ing me / Stop lying / Stop the nonsense!"
"Crap" is a somewhat more acceptable word for s h i t, or in this case, bull s h i t, but still, "crap" itself isn't nice to say in polite company.
If you were talking to a friend in casual conversation, you might say, "Let's cut the crap!" without worrying. But if you were at work, discussing something with co-workers and maybe the boss, you might want to change it to, "Let's be realistic / Let's be honest here / Let's not fool ourselves." _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
