Do you have a phrase used to say that what you have just asked or said is only a suggestion and you have not thought about it very much? I know it but cant remember it, just on the tip of my tongue. Please help me out. Thanks.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of anything. Wink

Hi Swim4life,

I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for, but here's a try:

I wasn't thinking when I said that.

I didn't give it much thought.
I didn't mean it.
I take it back.

I said it without much thought.
That wasn't what I meant.

You can take what I said with a grain of salt.

Thanks Lorikeet and Lotus. I remembered the phrase contains the word of "thought"...

Hi Swim4life,

Here's another try:

My suggestion was just an afterthought.

It was just a passing thought.

If you want more suggestions, you might make up a couple of sentences to set up the context.

Thanks Lotus. Seems it's "just thought I would ask" or "it's just a thought". Do you use this phrase a lot? Common used? Thanks.

Yes,

Just thought I'd ask.

It was just a thought.
