JOEY: You gave him cookies?
MONICA: Money is so impersonal. Cookies says someone really cares. . .Alright, we're broke, but cookies do say that.
PHOEBE: I can see that. A plate of brownies once told me a limerick.
CHANDLER: Phoebs, let me ask you something, were, were these, uh, funny brownies?
PHOEBE: Not especially. But you know what, I think they had pot in them.
1.How would a plate of brownies ones tell Phoebe a limerick?
brownie - a small square chocolate cake, often with nuts in it.
2.What are "funny brownies"?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
CHAN: Y'know, maybe this isn't such a big deal. Y'know, I mean, the way that I see it is you get a great job and you get to have sex. Y'know, I mean, throw in a tree and a fat guy and you've got Christmas.
3. what does the last sentence mean?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WAITER: Can I get you something from the bar?
MNCA: Yes, I would like something. [looks at Fun Bobby, changes her mind] No, no thank you.
FBOB: If... if you want to drink, it's OK with me, I've got to get used to it.
MNCA: No, no really. I.. I wouldn't feel right about it. [to waiter] Just some water.
FBOB: So the light went out in my refrigerator...
MNCA: [grabs waiter as he's leaving] I'd like a scotch on the rocks with a twist.
4. What did Fun Bobby mean by saying that the light went out in his refrigerator ? |

1. "Cookies says someone really cares" is something that makes sense in casual conversation. "Says" is used to mean "signifies." Phoebe is making a joke based on that usage.
2. "Funny brownies" are made with marijuana (pot). "Funny" means "strange" in this context - different than your typical brownies. Note that Phoebe does not have the same definition of "funny brownies" as everyone else.
3. Sometimes a great situation is referred to as being like Christmas. "Throw in" in this context means "add in." Chandler is saying that if you add a Christmas tree and Santa Clause (a fat guy) to the mix, it's like Christmas.
4. He means exactly what he said, which is the beginning of a very boring conversation. That's why Monica orders the drink after all. |

a thin slice of lemon, lime, or another peel that is cut and twisted and added to a drink
Is that put into the drink or placed at the rim of the glass?
Thanks |
