Q1: As luck could have it=if you get lucky?
--The expression is, "As luck would have it," meaning, "As it turned out, by chance / fortune." "As luck would have it, the last bottle of cold medicine was sold right before I got to the store. I had to go somewhere else."
Q2: She is being denied "of" her right. Does the "of" exist?
--It's fine as just "being denied her right."
Q3: I am not enslaved by fashions dictated "to" me by males.
Can I use "by" in this sample sentence?
--Yes.
Q4: There are churhes in every country.
There is churhes in every country.
Which one is correct?
--There are churches in every country. There is a church in every village. There is a cathedral in every city.
Q5: It's not death that people "necessarily" fear as much as the dying process.
I find the existence of "necessarily" weird. Could anyone explain the meaning in this case?
--It is pretty common to use "necessarily" this way, but this sentence would be just as good, or better, without "necessarily" and with the first "as" changed to "so." _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
