1 If I had influence with the good fairy who is responsible for the chirstening of all children, i should ask that her gift to each child in the world be a sense of wonder so undeniable that it would last throughout life, as an unfailing protection against the boredom of later years, the alienation from the souces of our strength.
I cannot understand the meaning of "the alienation from the souces of our strength".
2 Surrendering to this fact that life is not fair keeps us from feeling sorry for others because we are reminded that everyone is dealt a different hand.
Can you tell me the phrase of "be dealt a different hand"? Is it a fixed collocation? |

2. Yes, it is the sad truth that we all must play the hand dealt us. We all must play the card game of life with the cards that are dealt to us -- that's what it means. The cards in my hand are the hand I must play. If I play my cards right, I might be a success. Same for you.
