Hi, everyone!
I'd like to know how to use the idiom "saw logs" correctly.
A: Tom is so loud at night.
B: Yes, he saws logs.
I learned that the dialogue above doesn't sound natural becese of the use of "saw logs", but I don't remeber why.
Would anyone be able to tell me the reason and give me a good example of using "saw logs" naturally?

The verb is not to see, but to saw, to cut wood (or a log) with a saw.
When I sleep, I snore. It sounds like someone is cutting a log with a saw, or so I'm told.
Tom snores, too. His snoring is loud. He really saws logs at night -- or rather, it really sounds like he is sawing logs.
People also use it to mean sleeping, even if no snoring is involved. "I was sawing logs when a siren woke me up, and I couldn't get back to sleep for an hour." _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
