After a brief stardom, she had a dry *spell*.
something to do with magic in this case?
2
...best-selling female artist of the 90s *bar none*??
3.
she's actually *larger than life*
very impressive? in what ways?
4
when she hit the *scene* in 90s
pop scene?
5
ther's a lot more between our *covers*.
cover stories or actual book covers?
6
The diminutive pop diva is *arguably* more famous than Madonna...
Probably? but why argue?

Dry spell, means a period of time when her career stood still.
Bar none means with no exceptions.
In this case she sold more records than anyone else.
Larger than life - attracting attention by flamboyant and unusual behaviour or appearance.
Hit the scene - begin to be noticed or to attract attention.
Inside our covers - contained within our magazine or book.
arguably - open to disagreement. (Means the writer thinks so, but knows many will disagree.) |

Dry* spell*, means a period of time when her career stood still.
Does it have anything to do with the magic spell?
*Bar none* means with no exceptions.
What is the origin of the word, from music?
Hit the scene ...
So it is not talking about a particular scene, the pop scene, the dance scene, just the scene in general?

Dry spell - nothing to do with magic. Spell in this example means a period of time.
Bar none - I assume the origin is not music. A bar is an object to block, for example the bars in a jail. In the phrase "bar none" it means that no one is being excluded from the comparision.
Hit the scene - could be talking about a particular scene - pop music scene, for example.
