Please help me on this;
Have you been to New York?
1. No, I never have.
2. No, I have never.
Is #2 wrong?? I was using that for a long time not knowing it's wrong.
I didn't know #1 is right.
Would you please explain why it is? Or is that just the way it is??

1. "No, I never have." People would say this.
2. "No, I have never." People would not say this.
You can also answer it with:
"No, never."
"No, not yet."
"Not yet, not ever!"
"No, and I never will."
