You mean, TV programs? I don't watch TV anymore. and most of my friends seldom watch TV these years. who really cares those stereotypes that TV tries to tell us?

IMHO, internet is more fun. it's not one-way, it offers a place where we can communicate with each other. By exchanging ideas, learning other cultures, we get to know people all over the world and how our life is compared to other people living in other countries. I would like to take internet as the mass media. and internet dosen't always show the stereotypes, even though someone wants to do, some other people still would analyze the stereotype objectively, finally, nobody would really buy it.

Muriel and Red Rose, the mass media are a very important resource for the society. But not all along they show the best of the human being . The mass media can influence terribly in fatal decisions like the suicide, the violence, nevertheless they can be an educative option also. What do you think

If you are talking about declining civility, integrity, and morality, the "mass media" is just another excuse people use to rationalize their own poor decisions and wrong actions.

It's used as a way for people with low integrity to dodge responsibility, just as people used to say "the devil made me do it."

Hi Daniel, I respect your criterion, can that you have an ample criterion about which they program mass media. Nevertheless I consider that there are many people who really let themselves influence by mass media, for example the children and adolescents who easily are influenciables.

Influence, yes. But ultimately the decision regarding behavior and actions are made by the individual - not by mass media.

If you consider children, a good parent should have far more influence on a child than the mass media. If a child's behavior is too much influenced by the mass media, the parent should turn it off.

In my humble opion, the mass media - centrilized, vertical and unidirectial - is something not that strong anymore.

Internet - acentric, horizontal and multi-directional - has saved the day...

The problem here is that the mass media have the support of strong economic interest, then the editorial line is on the said that power want. But as the turtle said, the last word in the influence of mass media is property of parents and the education they give to their children.
The another problem is that the world need pounds of education and good criteria in order to help new generatios.
Internet is a mass media, ans sometimes better as TV because ciberadicts could feedback with the websites, and that kind of things never happen in the TV. But sometimes there are risk, this is the case of the chats where teenagers and children too, could chat with a sexual abuser.

Mass media connects people and shows them new ways to go, shows them what happens in the world.
I can't imagine a world without mass media.
And about children: I think, if there is no mass media to lead them to a wrong path, there are also friends who could lead them to the wrong path. Here the parents should work on the relationship with their children to prevent their children of going the wrong way, and they shouldn't say that that it's the fault of the mass media.

I WISH that it was true. Here in the US, the Republican controlled media has kept us in a war that has taken hundreds of thousands of lives. A great majority of Americans get their reality from TV. Disgusting.
