Here is a sentence in a passage.
"Ali, a Middle East student in his forties wrote before his arrival to request a family willing to discuss the day's news, no meat in his food and no alcohol."
Does "discuss the day's news" have anything to do with " no meat and no alcohol" ? I cannot understand. |

It is not a good sentence in my opinion. "Ali, a Middle Eastern student in his forties, wrote before his arrival to request a family willing to discuss the day's news, and provide vegetarian meals with no alcohol." or something like that. There is no relationship between the meals and alcohol, and the discussion of the day's news. |
