Hello, teachers.
I know the phrase "make a long story short", which means "put it briefly".
Do you also say "make a short story long"? or "make a story long" instead of "beat around the bush"?
Thank you in advance,

Yes, I have heard people turn the usual long-story-short phrase inside out and say, "To make a short story long" when overexplaining something. I've even heard the listener say to the speaker who went on too long, "Well, that's making a short story long." _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
