Hello,

What do you think this phrase implies?

To me, it sounds like we are talking about different ways/places in which we can educate people, like museums, cable TVs, the Internet, etc.

Can we also use it to mean 'places where classes take places" as in:

"X is a provider of venues for education, training and conferences."

To me, it just sounds really odd. Is it just me?

The natural usage for me is your second-- a physical facility or location for a specific event or series of events. As a 'way', 'venue' could only be being used metaphorically.
