Hello,
Is it "mashed potato" or "mashed potatoes" when we talk about a type of potato dish? Or it doesn't matter which one we use? I have always used the singular form, but I have just came across "mashed potatoes" in a novel written by a British writer. I have always thought that we use the singular form because in this case the potato is no longer countable like "There's too much carrot in this curry."
Thank you,
Nawee |

| I would say mashed potatoes, usually, there's more than one spud that has been mashed. |
