Hello
Could you tell me if the following sentence is correct?
We were maximum 8 students in our group.
Thank you very much in advance for your assistance. |

More likely: "We had at most / at the most eight students in our group," "We had a maximum of eight students in our group," or just, "We had eight students in our group."
You don't need "at most" or "maximum" at all, since you are talking about a group, and the group had either eight people or some other number. However, if you are unsure, and you know you had seven or eight people, you could add "most" or "maximum." _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |

| or, "There was a maximum of eight students in our group." (That would imply that the number varied, but there was never more than 8.) Otherwise, "There were eight students in our group." |
