Hello,
Please refer to the following sentence:
Apparently all you do nowadays is grow flowers.
Why can't I say Apparently all you do nowadays is growing flowers?
Is it because there is a verb do in front of it?
Then is it related to the use of 'bare infinitive' after the verb 'do'?
Or any other reason?
Many thanks. |

I think you can also say, Apparently all you are doing nowadays is growing flowers.
Either you are using the simple present, or the present continuous (in the sense of the "extended present" as it is sometimes called.) I think the two verbs have to match. |
