1.In a movie an art teacher complained to a headmaster,"Is art ever anything else?"

Does that mean "why doesn't everybody emphasize on art?"
and would anyone say"Am I ever anything else?

2.Asking us when we would like to start was an implicit acceptance of our "terms".

what does "terms" mean in this sentence?

3.Are there any website that shows the usages and references of words?

Thanks a lot~~

1. The art teacher was asking, "Is art ever anything other than art?" If the headmaster had just referred to art as, say, a waste of time, then the question would mean, "Is art ever anything other than a waste of time?"

If someone said to you, "Kerstin, you are so pretty today!", you could say, "Am I ever anything else?"

2. It means the elements of the agreement. The speaker is saying, We offered to do it on certain terms (for example, build the bridge within 9 months for $5 million), and when the other person asked us when we would like to start, he was implicitly accepting those terms.

3. There are many dictionary and thesaurus Web sites. One for English is www.yourdictionary.com . Some are good for translating between English and other languages. Try Googling "dictionary" and "thesaurus" and see what you find.

If someone said to you, "Kerstin, you are so pretty today!", you could say, "Am I ever anything else?"

Does that mean "Am I not pretty tomorrow?" or "Am I only just pretty to you?"

Thanks

it would mean more 'am i pretty to you'. if you were to say 'am i not pretty tomorrow', there is no way to answer the question, but also, the question does not make any sense. it's not a question that i have ever heard asked before. iitimone7

"I am always pretty. Am I ever anything else? Am I ever frumpy? Am I ever ugly? Am I ever homely? I'm always the definition of pretty!"
