In the above quote, what is the appropriate word that can be filled in the blank?
I think #2 is right, but I have found the sentences of "spend the time to~" in http://www.google.co.kr/search?hl=ko&q=%22spend+the+time+to%22&lr=. I want to know the differences "... spend + object + to~" between "... spend + object + ~ing" forms.

| I think either is correct. Probably, riding is what they are looking for. |
