Why did you say that?-
It's a question asking someone for the reason they said something. It used to get someone to explain their actions. For example-
Yumi- "Hmph. That girl is so rude."
Me- "Why did you say that? Did she do something to you?"
Why do you say so?-
It's almost the same thing as saying "Why do you say so?", it's worded differently and used in a different context, but basically, in a conversation, you can get away with saying either one. The only real difference is that Why did you say that? is in the past tense and Why do you say so? is refering to something just happened or is happening(Present tense). _________________
