[1] I wonder whether he will go to America or not.
[2] I wonder if he will go to America or not.
I know [1] is correct. I have been taught that "whether" is used with "[1]". And then can "if" be used with "or not" like [2], too? |

Usually if you say "whether," you don't need "not":
I wonder whether he will go to America.
